Reacquainted

Each we went our separate ways
And the years passed by until today.
With feelings unspoken and thoughts unsaid
We talk of the past and of days ahead.

Each asking how our lives were spent
And wondering where the years have went.
So much unknown and so much to ask
The answers take us to our past.

Our forgotten days brought back to light.
Memories we share of youthful times.
At length we talk to learn anew
Of the person who we once knew.

Though we’re older, we’re much the same
As we were back in those days.
Ever connected across miles and time
Our lives forever intertwined.

Taken back in time to a far-away place,
I think of love lost and a tender embrace.
Of forgotten thoughts and remembered pain
She was my first, and she will remain.
