Midnight Serenade

On a warm summer night I sat outside
And stared into the sky.
Alone, below the heavens wide,
I was gently mesmerized.

And in the dark of midnight pure
Upon that silent hill,
The vastness of the universe
Whispered an appeal.

The infinite lured and beckoned me
To live among the stars.
To share a wise eternity
Amid the endless hours.

With a promise of immortality
And the knowing of it all,
Ethereal voices sang soft to me
With magic and beguile.

I sat spellbound by their serenade
And captivated by their guise.
Freed only when the stars grew faint
And the sun began to rise.
